My Teacher, My Hero

Teachers are amongst people whom I see from a day to day basis. I can't help but wonder why did they chose to walk the path of art of teaching; Didn't they have any other plans other than this? One said, "I could be a doctor now if I didn't practice teaching." Another one said, "I never really planned to land on this job but I wanted change." If love is a sacrifice, wouldn't you agree that teaching is too?

I encountered a lot of teachers since nursery. They have different vibes and attributes but all share the same passion -- teaching. I remember one Math teacher I had. She was so inviting that you can have a casual talk with her. She's one in a million. Another kind, Math teacher came to my rescue when I messed up my face with floor wax while I was cleaning in our classroom. She was the one who took it off. I also remember my advisers who chose me to read the daily gospel in front of the whole grade school department. Another one also asked me to lead a prayer in a quiz bee. And one thing I would never forget is that an English teacher made me read the First Reading in a Friday mass in front of the grade school and college crowd. These are but simple things my teachers did to me and I can already hear some saying, "who cares?" but the mere fact that they made me smile and feel special for even just a short span of time is something to be thankful about. They may have already forgotten my whole being but one thing's for sure. They, my teachers would remain engraved in my heart. If ever I might forget them too, one way or another, time would make me recollect all the past happenings in my life and maybe you'll just find me in the corner of the room smiling out of nowhere.

Unlike superheroes, teachers don't fly around the sky and say, "*insert name*, to the rescue!"; But like superheroes, they save lives and eventually, make people happy. Though majority of the teacher population have terrors, favoritisms, and well... boring ones, there are still those who stand out with their pure heart. Being a teacher doesn't end when the school bell rings. A true one does his job, his advocacy outside the school grounds.
